Céleste

Marcel Proust wrote his masterpiece “In Search of Time Lost” mostly in bed in a cork lined room, when he hired Céleste, a young woman from the country side. For ten years until his death in 1922, she is his attendant who waits all night to serve him milk coffee but also becomes the audience for his adventures. Proust, although sick with asthma, loves to go out, meeting with aristocrats and artists of the roaring twenties at the Hotel Ritz, retelling all and showing off for Céleste when he returns.
